Climate Chaos and Loving the Earth - facilitated by Kerry Kokkingenis, Program Manager, Boston Food Program, SBN.

  • Parker Hill Branch of the Boston Public Library 1497 Tremont Street Boston, MA, 02120 United States (map)

Not all farming is created equal — particularly in its impact on the local environment. Mono-cropped, chemical-laden industrial farms of the West and Midwest are notorious for their impact on the planet and the climate chaos we are facing. And yet, local farmers, fishermen, and the food systems that support them are repairing much of that damage. In this talk we will focus on hope and the positive impact of the land and ocean stewards that supply our food locally. In addition we’ll talk about the challenges they face and some of the strategies they are turning to as they respond to the major changes in weather patterns and sea temperatures.
